Big 12 Championship Weekend

As Kansas State University (KSU) was winning the football game against the University of Kansas it became clear KSU would be heading to the Big 12 Championship in Arlington Texas.

Thursday

Tickets purchased, we headed towards Dallas/Fort Worth on a 6:06 am flight out of Bozeman, with a two hour layover in Salt Lake City

An electronic “trail”!
SLC has nice artwork along the electronic walkway

We requested an Uber from the airport, and because we’d been traveling since 5 am saw the Uber sign on the dashboard and got into the car. Red flags almost immediately when the driver took off then asked us where we were going. And then charged three times the price on the Uber app. I took photos of the vehicle/license plate, and the man’s business card. It was our fault we were scammed but Uber isn’t interested in pursuing the scammer.

William’s license plate.

We stayed in the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Arlington, which was ‘interesting’. We slept on the pullout sofa/bed, and the bathroom was through the bedroom where my brother and sister-in-law slept. We had three towels for four people, a shortage of tp and zero remotes for two tvs. But we were not in Dallas to spend time in the hotel room!

The pullout was ok; could have been worse!

Friday

Humperdink’s Brew Pub in Arlington. The name caught my eye. http://www.humperdinks.net/
Dallas still had fall colors!
And Six Flags, of course! They keep the rollercoasters running all year long. https://www.sixflags.com/overtexas

Friday Night

My brother-in-law found something he thought we all might enjoy:

We knew Tag Team and Tone Loc would be there….

But we did not expect-

Digital Underground playing the Humpty Dance!

I thought it was the real “Humpty”, but unfortunately Shock G, aka “Humpty Hump” passed away last year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_G https://www.facebook.com/100082802722515/videos/847822433003562

The Man himself! https://www.facebook.com/jennifer.macy.9/videos/1845228165837161

Tone Loc asked females to join him on the stage, which I opted out of. I was busy filming! Of course, there was more to Friday evening than the music:

One of my favorite songs! This is not the real Love Shack, of course. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Shack

Game Day!

We had seen the College Gameday bus on Friday, so were excited to have another Gameday opportunity in one year; make that two months!

Because our Friday went into the wee hours, this is the most involvement I had “College Gameday” https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/page/gamedaykickoff81622/where-college-gameday-2022
Walking toward AT&T Stadium, aka “Jerry’s World”
LOL!
The Plaza in front of the stadium.
The Classy Cats.
The sideline.
TCU’s horn for celebrating touchdowns,
Willy the Wildcat!
The marching band – something watching the game on TV is missing.
I took photos of the score as it changed.

The film recorded is pasted to my Facebook page of the same name as this blog:

The next step for my beloved KSU Wildcats is the Sugar Bowl! https://www.kstatecollegian.com/2022/12/04/k-state-and-alabama-sugar-bowl-bound/

Sunday

On Sunday, we slept in a bit, and said goodbye to our fellow travelers. Did a bit more laundry to save time on Monday and worked our way to the airport early afternoon for a 6 pm flight back home.

Monday

This is what welcomed us after our 12:30 am landing in Bozeman.

I live in somewhat rural Montana, north of Yellowstone National Park. I love to tell "tales", I end up on many "trails", and am fascinated by "transformations", which happen around me and in me, which is the best part!
